We can only hope we are half as sharp at 89 and 93 as they are! It was hard to say goodbye but time for us to hit the road again.
The day was beautiful and sunny...with temps between 20 and 27 over the course of the day. I had started out bundled up but at our first stop for gas was peeling off the layers!
We passed through a variety of landscapes...from trees lining both sides of the road, to dairy farms off in the distance, to rolling hills and fields of corn, to the odd body of water in the distance.
The traffic going through Montreal was bumper to bumper and Harry handled the bike beautifully. As for me I just held my breath most of the way through that bustling...and very humid...city. We knew we wouldn't have time to stop so Harry's GPS girlfriend just carried us through the freeway system with her usual efficiency.
Other than stopping for gas and to stretch our legs, we didn't spend much time anywhere along the way until we arrived at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. What a charming town...we just loved it! Lots of historic buildings, an abundance of flowers everywhere, lots of outdoor cafes and people enjoying the sunshine.
The city was founded in 1634 and is one of North America's oldest French cities. It is located where the three channels of the St. Maurice River enter the St. Lawrence and is an important commercial port. The city boasts the only bridge across the St. Lawrence between Montreal and Quebec City.
There were lots of bikers with Quebec plates parked in specially designated bike parking spots so we figured it must be part of a favorite scenic ride for those who live in the area. People were exceptionally friendly and helpful and one woman offered to take our picture when she saw me admiring the house she was standing in front of. We enjoyed a gelato along the harbor front and hated to say good bye to the place.
However it was time to get back on the bike and head for Quebec City...which is where we are now. We are in a great location not too far off the highway and near to a few restaurants and a grocery store. We will be taking the shuttle into the old city in the morning so will have another full day of exploring yet another historic part of this magnificent country tomorrow.
We are having a blast and are so glad we decided to do this trip....until tomorrow...Bonne nuit from Janice and Harry
