The road to the terminal had the neatest road cut right through the rock...
Normally the motorcycles are loaded on early but for some reason today we were some of the last vehicles boarded. Got the bike tied down and headed upstairs where we spent the day reading, resting, snacking, watching a bit of tv, doing sudukos and wandering around. Was hard to say goodbye to Newfoundland...it is a really neat place and we hope to get back for a longer visit some day soon...
Went to the sun deck on the top of the boat and decided it should be called the wind deck! See what I mean ...
Got some nice shots coming into North Sydney harbour about 7:00 p.m. There were a couple of cruise ships coming in as well as another ferry on its way out and speed boats zooming around too...it was a busy place that's for sure...
After we got settled in the hotel we decided to go for a walk. It was a beautiful evening, with a warm breeze. We headed down the hill and walked along the shore. Read some more about the history of the place ...
A little ways away we saw a sign for "Indian Beach" so decided to walk there and see it.
What an interesting spot...a small beach, people fishing for mackerel from the dock, a large playground and a live band playing.
What was really different was that there were more than 130 cars (we counted them :)) all with people in them, their windows down and the cars were facing toward the little bandshell where the band was playing. It felt like a drive in movie parking lot but instead of watching a movie, folks were listening to music. We definitely felt out of place walking around!
Hope these pics give you an idea of the feel of the place. It was one of those experiences that was probably every day to the folks who live here, but to us it was someone totally new...and fun!
Headed back for the hotel to call it a night and couldn't resist taking one last pic...
Tomorrow we are planning an early departure so we can spend some time enjoying the Cabot Trail before heading to Truro for the night...
